Current Job Openings:
Signal Processing Engineer (with CTO potential)
LucentWave AB - Malmö, Sweden (Hybrid)
About us
LucentWave is a small signal processing startup in Malmö founded in 2023 around our proprietary superresolution time-frequency transform algorithm. With this we bring better resolution to complex sensor data and systems, for example through drone detection over 6G/Radar or improvements in water infrastructure networks.
We now have an opening to take over technical operations and potentially transition towards being the senior technical driving force in the company - someone to help bring our technology from a validated technology to practically validated products, especially by fast prototyping in customer projects and datasets.
Job description
The problems our products solve start with a continuous-time signal, and output a classification decision about what is in that signal. In between is: how to represent a signal so the structure you care about becomes visible, how to separate overlapping events, how to detect something against a noisy and shifting background, and how to know whether the answer is real. In practice that means time–frequency analysis, filtering, detection and estimation, and machine learning models built for continuous-time data rather than borrowed from image or language work.
Validating a result matters as much as producing one. You will need to benchmark against public datasets where suitable ones exist, run your own hardware experiments to generate data when needed, and use simulation where labelled ground truth is the only honest way to score something.
You will become a main person in our small team, working closely with the CEO and customers to solve real world problems using our technology base.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a committed person who will enjoy and thrive working in a high-pace startup, with the freedom under responsibility to independently carry a problem from question to result and deliver a product solution.
Must haves:
A degree in signal processing, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics or a related field, at master's level or above, or equivalent experience.
Genuine command of the fundamentals - Fourier and time-frequency methods, filtering, sampling, detection and estimation. You should be comfortable being asked why a method works, not only that it does.
Experience with machine learning, preferably to continuous-time signals, and a clear-eyed view of how to evaluate a model when data is limited.
Fluency in Python. Strong C++ or MATLAB alongside it is welcome.
Practical experience with recorded data and its difficulties such as: noise, drift, artefacts, class imbalance, and variation between recording sessions.
The right to work in Sweden.
Nice to haves:
A background in radar, sonar or acoustics.
Experience leading and contributing in big projects such as research grant applications, or scientific publications.
Experience in product development.
What we offer
The opportunity to join a high-potential company and grow with a notable stake in it.
Freedom (under responsibility) to work on a variety of tasks together with a supportive, high-profile team.
Autonomy and flexibility to (within reason) deliver results in a way that fits you, and work on fun tech!
A 3-month, fully paid trial employment with the intent to turn into a long-term permanent position (tillsvidareanställning) to grow in for years to come.
Flexible start date - ideally within the upcoming few months.
Competitive base salary and an attractive equity stake, discussed together based on the experience and impact you bring.
How to apply
Send us your CV to info@lucentwave.eu together with a few lines about why you want to join us. We personally check every application, and always appreciate links to code or publications. We will get in touch with you soon if there seems to be a strong fit.
